What To Expect

This is a day for you to experience the life of Old Dhaka. You will be visiting Sadarghat (water front), the Pink Palace, Shakari Bazaar (Hindu Street), Dakeswari Temple among other sights. Then we drive 45km to Dhamrai Metalcraft Village to meet the people who have been involved in this business for generations. We see the lost wax process, which is the way to make beautiful idols & gods etc. Also a highlight of the tour is Pottery Village. We can observe the village style of life and fabrication of pots and all other ceramic items. You may try making some yourself. Lunch is in a famous local restaurant.

Pick up from a place convenient to you, and drive to Old Dhaka.

Sightseeing starts with a walk through the narrow alleys and streets of Shakari Bazar to enjoy seeing the style of life in Old Dhaka.

We go to the Pink Palace which has become an interesting museum. (It used to be the Nawab’s Palace.)

Visit the vibrant Sadarghat (Boat Station.) There you will see and experience how people of Bangladesh travel to other parts of Bangladesh by boat.

You will now visit Dakeswari Temple National Hindu Temple of Bangladesh from 11th century, built by Raja Balal Sen.

Have lunch in a local restaurant.

Start driving to Dhamrai Metal craft Village and see the metal workers’ craftsmanship passed down to them for generations from their ancestors. The process used is known as ‘lost wax’.

Take a 30 minutes boat trip to Kakran, the Pottery Village, and see how they make all different types pots and decorative products from sticky clay. Spend some time with them, and they may let you try to make one yourself.

From here it is 15 minutes drive to Savar National Martyr’s Monument to those who gave their lives in the war of independence in 1971. We pay our respects and contemplate for a little while in this quite place.

Start on the return drive to Dhaka.

Arrive at your Hotel or Residence. End of Tour.
